How do you make guests comfortable?
An evening can take different shapes, but a few things set the foundation: guests should feel at ease, safe and clear about what is happening. Soft lighting, a comfortable room temperature, good food, a few flowers and well-timed coordination create comfort and let people relax. Once everyone has settled in, the evening becomes both sincere and fun.
How does the evening unfold?
Our recommended plan: allow 30 minutes for guests to arrive, and welcome them with snacks and refreshing drinks while they gather. Everyone comes in carrying the day with them, so leave room to settle in — free time and dinner are ideal for that. Once everyone has eaten and feels at home, the interactive programme can begin.
Total length of the programme: about 3 hours.
We start by introducing the guests, drawing on their personalities and professions. This builds bridges between people who have never met and gives them something to start a conversation from.
The first ten players are drawn by lot and invited to the round table. Every guest has a name card, so anyone who hasn’t met the others can always glance at it. Before the session begins we explain the rules of the Mafia game , and during the session we remind everyone what the characters do and how the game moves on.
There are three sessions in all — enough for everyone to get the hang of the rules and start enjoying the game. Between sessions there are breaks to share emotions and impressions. After the game the host looks back at the evening’s best moments and hands out the awards.
When the programme ends, guests usually keep sharing impressions with each other. Here are a few reviews from our clients:
Rūta
“The psychological game Mafia turned out to be incredibly fun, gripping and emotional, and it left a strong, unforgettable impression on me. I never expected a role-playing game to stir up so many vivid and unexpected emotions! I recommend it to anyone who wants an unusual, intriguing and really fun evening with friends or colleagues. And special thanks to Oleg — his calm, his professionalism and his great sense of humour simply win you over!”
Lina
“Thank you so much for a professionally organised birthday! The restaurant — 10 out of 10! The table decor — 10 out of 10! The flowers are still a joy to look at — simply perfect. The game and the hosting — 10 out of 10 too! The impressions lasted us all of Sunday 😊”
Vaiva
“The Mafia game hosted by Oleg exceeded all our expectations. Every detail was thought through and flawlessly delivered! The atmosphere was wonderful! Even the team members who weren’t at the table were caught up in it — everyone wanted to see who said what and why 🙂, how they said it and what signals they were giving off! It was great to see colleagues in different roles! We kept wanting to come back to that beautifully decorated table! And all the memories live on in wonderful photos!”
How many guests can take part in a Mafia game evening?
With one game table booked, the maximum is 30 guests.
Up to 10 guests can play at one table in each session.
- With 30 guests, everyone plays once.
- With 10 guests, everyone plays three times.
- With 20 guests, some — those eliminated first — play twice, and the rest play once.
How many game tables are best?
If you have up to 20 guests and the aim is a cosy evening and getting to know yourself and your friends better, I recommend one table. It lets the game go deeper, gives players more room to experiment and time to explore themselves through different tactics.
If you have 20 to 60 guests and the main aim is to have fun, we recommend two tables. Unique characters are added to the sessions, the evening moves at a faster pace, and two hosts lead it.
Isn’t it boring for those who are out or waiting for their turn?
Most guests enjoy watching the game from the side:
Jūratė
“Most of the guests hadn’t met before, but thanks to this game we all got involved, took an active part, made up life stories and untangled detective mysteries. Playing was gripping, but watching from the side was just as interesting — because you can see everyone’s roles.”
What are the rules and roles in the MafiaInLT format?
The day phase:
The host finishes explaining the rules and hands out 10 envelopes: three hold Mafia cards and the other seven hold citizen cards. If you draw a Mafia role, your task is to eliminate all the citizens without arousing suspicion. If you draw a citizen, your task is to find the Mafia — by intuition or by logic — and vote them out of the game.
The first round is introductions: each player in turn tells a story. This round brings out creativity and calls for attention. The second round is sharing suspicions: here the host introduces techniques that help you notice what you feel and understand what it might mean. The third round is an open discussion, followed by a vote. After the vote, one player is out of the game.
The night phase:
All players put on masks so they can’t see what is happening around them. The host calls the characters one by one: the Mafia, the Doctor, the Sheriff, the Lawyer and the session’s special extra character. Each character carries out their task. When the host announces the end of the night, the masks come off. The game ends when either every Mafia member or every citizen has been eliminated.
Some characters and certain game mechanics (the voting method, for example) are the club’s own intellectual property.
Do we provide a venue for the Mafia game? What should you look for in one?
We don’t have our own venue, but we can find and book a suitable one for you.
Privacy comes first: the room should be separate, with no one walking through it. For a daytime event, windows are a plus — natural light usually lifts the mood. For an evening event, soft indirect lighting creates a cosy atmosphere. The temperature should be comfortable for the season. If dinner is planned, guests need separate dining tables; if it’s just snacks and drinks, comfortable high tables work best.
If you’d like to hold the event at home, make sure there is room for our table (180 cm across) and 11 chairs around it. And for a more inspiring setting, I recommend adding the decoration service — flowers bring beauty and life to a room.
What is the difference between game organisation and event organisation?
Event organisation covers a wider range of services: all you need to do is arrive, and we take care of the rest. We find a venue that suits your needs, plan the programme, agree the menu in advance and decorate the space. On the day, a coordinator meets your guests and shows them where to go.
If you prefer to plan the celebration yourself and only need the interactive part, game organisation is all you need.
